EOS DSLRs from the 200D upwards feature a diopter adjustment wheel behind the rubber eyecup. This allows you to adjust the sharpness of the viewfinder image. It can be easier to judge the effect if you look at the display rather than the image as you make adjustments.

So I set the camera up, use live view or autofocus to focus, and look through the eyepiece, it's blurry. I adjust the diopter to get the sharpest focus, but it's never sharp. If I take the photo, it's tack sharp. Now, if I go back to the eyepiece and adjust focus until it's sharp in the eyepiece, then take the photo, it's completely out of focus.
Canon diopters are interchangeable. You can find them on their site or at large photo suppliers like B&H. The standard one is -1, and the adjustment is +/- 2 (so the standard diopter goes from -3 to +1).
